- The designer and creator of MOS Atelier handbags & leathergoods, Marc Owen Schreiner, hails from a long heritage of blacksmiths and woodworkers. Growing up in the upper Mississippi River Valley, Marc (the son of a multi-disciplined artisan father), quickly developed an appreciation for the uniqueness of an elegant, hand-wrought object. His father’s workshop was stocked with beautiful antique tools of many trades; the surname “Schreiner” is a medieval German trade name indicating the mastery of the cabinetmaker.
